Prof. Motamedi is dedicated to the digital transformation of the built environment by developing tools and methods that improve the performance, sustainability, and resilience of infrastructure. His expertise covers BIM, the Internet of Things, cyber-physical systems, and digital twins, which he combines with artificial intelligence, deep learning, and computer vision to automate the collection and analysis of data on built assets.
His work focuses on the engineering of scalable digital twins, automated detection of elements or anomalies using RGB-D sensors, improving data accessibility through language models, and the use of immersive technologies such as virtual, augmented, and diminished reality to support inspection and maintenance.
