Description
His research lies at the intersection of structural engineering, earthquake engineering, and the conservation of the built heritage. His work focuses on the assessment, rehabilitation, and sustainable reuse of existing structures, including heritage buildings, bridges, and aging infrastructure. He combines advanced numerical modelling, experimental simulations, and laboratory testing to investigate the behavior of materials and structures subjected to a variety of loading conditions, including earthquakes and age-related deterioration. His research places particular emphasis on the mechanical characterization and durability of masonry, concrete, steel, and timber in existing structures. He also conducts forensic and collapse analyses to better understand structural failure mechanisms. His work contributes to climate change adaptation of infrastructure, the preservation of architectural heritage, and the development of more resilient and sustainable rehabilitation strategies.
