Diego Ramirez-Cardona
Description
Professor Ramirez-Cardona specializes in the design, testing, and management of transportation infrastructure, with expertise covering roads, railways, and emerging technologies related to sustainable mobility. His research focuses on high-performance asphalt mixtures, pavement durability, and the evaluation of road and rail structures in northern environments.
He is particularly interested in electric and fifth-generation roads, integrating induction charging systems directly into road surfaces. His work includes the mechanical characterization and durability of these innovative technologies, both in the laboratory and in the field, as well as the numerical modeling of their structural behavior.
He also conducts research on the impact of freeze-thaw cycles on railways, the development of cold-recycled asphalt mixes, and the development of infrastructure instrumentation and monitoring methods. His projects combine large-scale experimentation, information technologies for infrastructure management, and innovation assessment to better understand their performance and accelerate their integration into transportation networks.
Don’t just coexist with climate change.
