His research focuses on municipal sustainability strategies and metrics, with a particular focus on the transition to a circular economy and the evaluation of urban and regional development policies. He is interested in how municipalities integrate environmental and socioeconomic sustainability objectives into their practices, instruments, and action plans. He leads or co-leads several funded research projects, including a major study supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) on the relationship between urban planning and the circular economy.
