Nathalie Tufenkji

Description

Her research focuses on interactions between (bio)colloids and surfaces, with various applications, including water resource protection, biosensor engineering, antimicrobial materials, the development of safe nanotechnologies, and green infrastructure for the removal of microplastics and other emerging contaminants.

The Biocolloids and Surfaces Laboratory combines tools from surface science and colloid science with molecular, cellular, and microbiological biology techniques to address interdisciplinary issues that have implications for environmental protection and public health. The laboratory also has facilities dedicated to material characterization, bacterial culture, and insect and plant breeding. Her work is part of an innovative approach aimed at developing sustainable solutions for managing emerging contaminants and protecting aquatic ecosystems.
