Scientific Conference on Climate Change Adaptation

Climate change is profoundly transforming the conditions under which our infrastructure is designed, built, and operated. Floods, heat waves, wildfires, coastal erosion, and thawing permafrost are testing the resilience of communities and raising challenges that transcend disciplinary boundaries.

The goal of this conference is to bring together the scientific community working on the adaptation of infrastructure to climate change in order to foster dialogue among technical disciplines, the humanities and social sciences, and the fields of governance and decision-making. It will provide a unique forum for presenting research advances, sharing knowledge, and developing new collaborations around common challenges.

The topics covered will include water management, coastal infrastructure, resilient buildings and cities, transportation and energy networks, wildfires, northern infrastructure, life-cycle analysis, as well as issues related to social acceptability, equity, governance, and the economics of adaptation.

Although the scientific presentations are intended for the academic community, the conference will also welcome representatives from municipalities, governments, nonprofit organizations, and industry to foster dialogue between knowledge producers and users.

By bringing together complementary areas of expertise to address a common challenge, the event will help accelerate the development of innovative solutions and strengthen the resilience of infrastructure and communities in the face of climate change.
